Welcome to Girl Scout Troop 986
We are happy to have your children participate in this program and appreciate your support as they learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment.
Girl Scouts is based on the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout law and has been since the beginning. GSUSA has used its expertise to create an approach for What girls do in girl scouting, How they do it and How they will benefit. This approach is called the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE). The Girl Scout Leadership Experience engages girls in discovering themselves and their values, connecting with others, and taking action to make the world a better place. Discover, Connect, and Take Action are the three keys to leadership in the GSLE and replace Girl Scouting’s “four program goals”.
This is a multi-level program which is open to all girls between the ages of 6-18 regardless of school or religious affiliation. The program runs concurrent with the school year. Meetings are held every other Saturday at the Piney Mountian Community Center in Cherrydale. Meetings will last approximately two hours from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. In addition, there will be section-specific workshops, Council-sponsored programs and service activities scheduled throughout the year.
