Welcome to the Girl Scouts of Mountain to Midlands Troop 986 Official Website. We are happy to welcome all girls or volunteers to join and add character to our troop.
Who We Are...
The Girl Scout organizational structure is broken into geographical areas, the smallest of which is the Troop. Working from the top down, the overall organization we belong to is the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The national headquarters for the Girl Scouts is the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). (Headquartered in New York City). The next level down consists of the Girl Scout Councils. We belong to Girl Scouts- of South Carolina Mountains to Midlands (GSSCMM), based in Greenville, SC. The Council is so densely populated that we are broken up into Service Units – we are in the Travelers Rest/ Cherrydale Service Unit.
Monthly Service Unit Meetings are held for all troop leaders and volunteers to receive information about or from GSUSA, GSSCMM and Service Unit program activities. At least one adult representative from the troop attends each meeting.
Our Troop is dedicated solely to help girls build confidence, character, and skills to succeed in life. With the assistance of our adult volunteers, our girls develop qualities that will strengthen their leadership skills, build strong values, and establish a solid sense of self-esteem.
What We Do...
We promote fun, friendship, and togetherness through a variety of challenging experiences, such as camping trips, community service projects, and cultural diversity. Through Girl Scouting, our girls develop an understanding, skill, and respect for not only themselves but others.
